There are occasionally buyers in Desert Mountain that love the community but don’t want a membership. I am often asked whether they can buy a home which is listed for sale with a Desert Mountain Golf Club membership, but not take the membership. Each case is unique and sometimes this is possible.
Most Sellers who have homes with memberships want to sell both the real estate and the membership together because of the financial liability if they keep the membership. If they live elsewhere (which most Desert Mountain homeowners do) then it is unlikely they would return to Desert Mountain to make use of the membership without a home in the community. The membership would thus become a monthly liability with little purpose.
Many buyers assume that the Seller can just terminate or “turn in” their membership. So if they don’t want it, they don’t have to take it. This is not the case. Desert Mountain does not allow members to just terminate the membership.
If you have any questions about Desert Mountain Memberships or whether a home can be purchased with or without a membership, please contact me. I sell homes throughout the finest golf clubs in Scottsdale including Desert Mountain, Troon, Desert Highlands, Estancia and Silverleaf.
